FANTASTIC
FUNDRAISING NEWS !
Firstly, a big THANK YOU to everyone
who has been involved in the fund raising so far.
Below is a run down of our recent successes.
Cleve Archers Fund Raising Shop
The fund raising shop had its first
"big" outing at the Cleve tournament on
May 7th. From its humble beginnings selling sweets
on Saturday morning, the shop now has a variety of
goods for sale, from archery mouse mats to archery
moose mascots! In addition it sold new and used archery
equipment donated by club members.
A huge thank you needs to go to
Trevor who has produced some superb back-stop nets
from raw materials acquired by the club. These are
hugely popular and there is now a long waiting list
including members of clubs all over the country.
In one day alone, the shop made
a brilliant £369
The shop needs to replace its stocks
for the 2 day FITA, and the Junior Windsor tournaments
in July. So to ensure that the shop can continue to
be a success we need more archery equipment to sell.
Why not have a clearout and donate all of your unwanted
archery equipment to the fundraising shop?
Any donated items should be left
in the container in bags clearly marked "Fund
Raising Shop". Please do this as soon as possible
so that Chris Griffiths can collect them in time for
the tournaments.
We can be sure that all club members
can find some unwanted equipment - Go on, use this
opportunity to clear out some space!
Invitation
Books
As you will all be aware the Invitation
books containing hundreds of vouchers have been on
sale over the last few months.
This has proved a great success
raising a further £284
Thanks go to Nigel Smith who organised
this, and to all who sold, or bought these books.
Wine Auction
Many thanks to Ernst & Julio
Gallo for donating the wine and to Nigel Smith for
obtaining the winery's support and his auctioning
skills at the Cleve May tournament.
This auction raised another £90
for club funds.
Sainsburys Bag Packing
I know this event was not looked
on with great glee, but what a success it has proved
to be! A very efficient team comprising mainly Juniors
and their parents with some Seniors turned up a Sainsburys
on May 20th. Many of the volunteers stayed for the
whole four hours and were then treated to a barbecue
provided by Hillary and Chris Jones.
The bag packing raised an enormous
£972
A stand was also set up outside
Sainsburys and was manned by Dennis, Richard and Kevin
promoting Cleve Archers and archery in general. Francesca
produced leaflets with details of Birthday Parties,
Have A Go sessions etc. Many of these were handed
out and hopefully will provide more opportunity for
future fundraising.
The total raised from the above
events is a fantastic
£1,715.00
Once again a very big THANK YOU
to everyone who has contributed in any way so far.
If you haven't been involved yet, NOW is the time
to do it. Maybe you have a good fund raising idea
or some bits and pieces that you can donate.
Report by Chris Griffiths
February 2006
Well this is also our first update,
but what a very busy and successful 4 months we have
had! A very BIG thank you to everyone for their support
- without which we wouldn't have raised a penny! So
how have we done?
Webb Ivory
Our first season of taking Webb Ivory orders proved
to be more than worthwhile, raising a total of £149.19
for the club! Getting the catalogues out and placing
orders early ensured that there were very few problems
with availability. Thanks to Sue for organising this.
Photos with
Larry
What a very popular and successful fund raising event!
Many thanks to Jan for organising the event and for
taking such stunning photos and to Larry for his time.
The amount raised is £122.85.
The Stall
Our selection of mainly archery themed goods has been
a focus of interest for many of our Juniors over the
last few months - eagerly awaiting the next 'batch'
of quiver buddies and other treats! The crystal paperweights
have sold well (some have even emigrated to Wales!)
as have the scoreboards and pens - to name just a
couple of items! The stall visited the Senior AGM
and went down well with them too! The stall has raised
a whopping £412.00.
Many thanks Chris for the great idea, organising the
stall, making/collating much of the produce and lugging
it everywhere! Thank you too to everyone else who
has helped/contributed goods to sell.
Tesco Sports
Vouchers
We have collected a total of 1080 sports vouchers,
which we will be using to 'buy' the following items:
a handy storage clipboard for the register, hygienic
'squeezy whistle for our Field Captains, 5 stop watches
(metric rounds are timed!) and a kit bag for general
use.
So what
about 2006?
Friends of Cleve Archers will be meeting early in
the New Year to put together a plan of action. But
our main focus is likely to be getting our 'super'
raffle off the ground - with printed tickets and fully
licensed, this will give every member of both clubs
the opportunity to get involved: tracking down prizes
& selling tickets to friends/family/work colleagues
etc. Prizes will hopefully range from a digital camera,
landscape gardening, sports massage, complimentary
tickets to local attractions etc. If anyone works
for a company that would be prepared to donate a prize
(or would like to do so themselves) please let us
know!
We will be selling 'Invitation'
books crammed full of discounted tickets to local
attractions, restaurants, bowling, cinema tickets,
retail outlets and loads more - details to follow
soon!
Our stall will be making a trip
to the Gloucestershire County Championships and hopefully
also one to Wales to tempt the archers of Pentreff,
after which it will be taking a rest before making
a reappearance at the May shoot! Have no fear; we
will be producing an order form should you need anything
in the meantime!
