THE CLUB CELEBRATES IT’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR.

CELEBRATION IDEAS HAVE  BEEN AGREED IN PRINCIPAL AND WILL BE FINALSIED AT COMMITTEE MEETING ON 9TH MARCH.

DATE WILL BE  SATURDAY 15TH MAY AT UP YONDER – ALL DAY!

FLOATING LANTERNS

SOMEONE MENTIONE D HAVING STOCKS MADE SO THAT WE CAN PUT PEOPLE IN TO THROW STUFF AT – THAT SOUNDS LIKE FUN (IF YOU’RE A THOWER!) – ANYONE WHO HAS SUCH THINGS, PLEASE CAN WE BORROW THEM (WE WON’T ASK WHAT YOU USE THEM FOR!). OR IF YOU FANCY MAKING SOME PLEASE LET US KNOW.

THERE WILL BE ONE FUN SHOOT ROUND AND ONE CLOUT ROUND.

COMPETITION TIME!!

TO FURTHER CELEBRATE THE CLUB’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY IT HAS BEEN DECIDED TO COMMEMERATE THE OCCASION BY PRODUCING BADGES AND MEDALS FOR ALL TOURNAMENTS ORGANISED BY THE CLUB (TOURNAMENTS AND CLUB SHOOTS).
TO THIS END THE COMMITTEE IS RUNNING A COMPETITION, OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS, FOR THE DESIGN OF THE BADGES AND MEDAL CENTRES.
PLEASE SEND YOUR ENTRIES TO EITHER CHRIS GRIFFITHS OR DAVID ROGERS OR HAND THEM TO ANY MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE (SEE ATTACHED COMMITTEE MEMBERS LIST) TO REACH THEM NO LATER THAN 1ST MARCH.
WINNING DESIGN WILL BE DECIDED AT THE NEXT COMMITTEE MEETING ON 9TH MARCH – PRIZE WILL BE AWARDED AT THE FUN SHOOT 15TH MAY.

 


INDOOR SHOOTING
Indoor Shooting has been booked for Wellsway School, Chandag Road, Keynsham BS31 1PH (for those using Sat Nav !)
Friday evenings 6.30pm - 8.30pm from 6th Nov until 18th Dec then 8th Jan until 5th Feb and 26th Feb until 12th March.
All winter season will cost £50 per person or £5 for a one off rate
Saturday mornings for Juniors 10am - 12 noon from 7th Nov until 19th Dec then 9th Jan until 6th Feb and 27th Feb until 13th March.
All winter season for Juniors on Saturday mornings will cost £30 per person or £3 for a one off rate

OUTDOOR SHOOTING
Outdoor shooting commences at Up Yonder on Saturday 20th March (Juniors).
Seniors can shoot outdoors whenever they like,but when juniors commence on 20th March will not be allowed to shoot on Saturday mornings 9.30 – 12.00


BEGINNERS COURSES
Junior beginners course begins 27th March.
Senior beginners course begins 26th April to 7th June – help with instruction will be required, please contact Richard Jones if you can help with seniors and Richard Jones or Bob Nicholls if you can help with juniors.


HAVE-A-GO – HELP REQUIRED
Richard Jones will be running a Have a go session at Kingswood on 19th February – if you can assist for a couple of hours please contact him.

Cleve Longbow League
The ever popular Longbow league starts again in April – if you have a longbow or can borrow one, here
are the dates will be meeting:
18th April – 23rd May – 27th June – 25th July – 8th August
Round to be shot is a Western – if you can’t make these dates don’t worry, as long as you get your score
signed by another archer you can shoot the round on another day. Score sheets will be in the usual container.
Winners of the league will be awarded at the end of season longbow shoot 12th September.


JUNIORS – IMPORTANT NOTICE

Two important notices for juniors and parents of juniors.

  1. Club rules state that junior archers are the responsibility of their parents on Saturday mornings, parents are not to leave their children unattended. If you do need to leave please make sure you have left you child in the care of another adult (not the archery staff / coaches).

     2.  Club rules state that no junior archer is allowed to shoot on their own unless there is           another shooting /affiliated archer present .   


Cleve Archers on TV?
It was announced at committee meeting that the Country File TV program have been in touch as they may wish to do a piece on archery (and other sports) for future episodes – watch this space……


NEXT “ALL HANDS ON DECKS” JOB   

It was decided at the AGM that the club will be purchasing new foam targets to replace the straw ones for tournaments. Sometime after Christmas the H frames will need to made (40+)  so hands will be needed – mainly to assemble and paint. Possibly at short notice.
As soon as I know where and when people will be needed I will send out an email.

Congratulations to our new Membership Secretary Sue Palmer who was awarded the Joyce Harding Memorial Salver for greatest handicap reduction (Lady) in the County.

RE-ASSESSED HANDICAPS

Seniors – you will find in the list below your re-assessed handicap for the beginning of the 2010 / 2011 season. I did the re-assessment on scores I had received throughout the season.

If your name does no appear here it means that I have not received any scores from you.

Juniors – I believe you will receive your re-assessment through your records officer Tricia Pillay.

Remember – if you wish to gain a handicap & class please make sure that you submit scores shot to the records officers – there are score cards in the container.
